Reflection on completing the Blogs

In completing this assignment i was at a disadvantage. I missed the classes where the three main items that were required for the blog was discussed. I got some information on one item, however the others i had to research.

Another disadvantage was that i am not able to write a blog for each class and it amounts to ten, as i have not attended so many classes as yet.

Given all these set backs, i managed to post the required amount of blogs and trust that they are what i should have done.

I use this medium also to highlight, that i am not a so highly competent with technology, but i do try and whatever i do i give it my best shots.

Hope to receive a good grade for this assignment.

Class Missed- Monday March 18th

 

I missed the class on Monday March 18th. It was not by choice but i was feeling terrible awful, i had a migraine and could not have made it to class.

On the note of Migraine, i notice too that i have been having constant migraines on a Monday, immediately after class, I don't know if its the computers but for the classes i have attended that happened.

I will consult with the group rep. to get the information that was shared at the last class so as not to be left behind.

Second Class Reflection

In the second class sir did some house keeping matters. This put the assignments into perspective for me as i was not clear on exactly what to get done. I did not even have a blog page to post blogs, so after the house keeping i had was to create one so i could complete my first assignment.

After completing that task, we started to look at WIKI, this was very interesteing as i was not aware that WIKIPEDIA was open online and that persons can easily add information. This cleared up for me the reason why the University College ask us as students not to use WIKIPEDIA in our academic papers.

I also started to create a WIKI and i saw where sir pointed out that u can easily get your business on the world wide wib by just creating a free WIKI. Some very useful information was transmitted in this class.

I again learnt alot from this class.







 

First class reflection

My first day at class was like going to school for the first time. I had to Join the class almost two months after the semester started. When i spoke with my lecturer the week before i was estatic that i was able to be apart of his class, but there were some drawbacks as i did not know which set of students i would be joining.

I went to class and i was on time too, to my surprize, the students that i was going to be apart of their group, are also Guidance Students. This cause me to be calm and relaxed. I must also point out that the lecturer was very professional in his approach to teaching and was very accomadating to me considering my situation.

I left class learning alot that day and made the committment that i will do my best in this course, despite the numerous other courses i have on my hand for this semester.

Learning Theories and technology

 

Social learning theory and constructivism are the two main theory that i believe is more applicable with the use of technology especially for learning.

social learning theory is concern with how student learn. the environment in which the student is plays an important role. As it relates to technology, the computer labs and the use of the devices that it entails pushes students to learn more. it is my view that when students are taken for the normal environment that they are familiar with, for example, their form room, and is placed in other setting to learn, they do garner more. this drives home my point. also the devices used in technology is not the norm for most schoolers hence, they are more receptive to the information from the technological devices. 

One focus of Constructivisim is the important of active involvement of students in constructing knowledge on their own. When technology is used for teaching and learning, students are open to tons of information from the internet and other research entities. They then need to formulate the information in a logical manner to make sense of the information they recieved and to make meaning to themselves.

The use of technology has become a significant part of our Jamaican school environment over the last 15 - 20 years. More and more our education administrators are seeing the great advantages this has for learning and has been capitalizing on it. 

Technological devices has become increasing popular and are in demands. This then causes the devices that we once could not afford to become more affordable, hence, we find that the ordinar person own at least one of these devices. 

In schools, we see the use of many devices in the teaching and learning process. Teachers for example, uses multimedia projectors, speakers etc. in the execution of their lessons. This has become a trend in our local schools and is really aiding in the development of the students.  

The ways that teachers incorporate technology into their teaching and classroom may deeply affect what they do and what their students experience (Sheingold & Hadley, 1990).   

Technology Integration

TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

Technology integration is the use of computers and computer devices and elements in the execution of content in an educational setting (teaching & learning) experience.

Technology integration allows the students to interact with the computer and related devices, which helps to develop various skills, skills such as, critical thinking, problem solving, research skills and computer efficiency.

The concept of integrating technology in the classroom has been talks for a number of years, however, societies are vastly catching on to this and has been investing alot of financial resources and human resources to ensure that all students are exposed to technology in the classroom.

The integration of technology in education, has its advantages. it provides a meaningful way for students to learn as the materials and tools used captures students interest and enhances their entire learning experience which will result in greater work being completed.

WebQuest Explained

A webquest consist of activities using internet resources, this then boots students to use the world wide web to learn more about a specific topic. It is considered to be a creative, interactive and meaningful way of captivating student's interest.

One good thing of a webquest is that it is created with specific resources to complete a particular task, assignment or project. This then eliminate time spent on resources which are not related to the task at hand.

All about me

I am a self motivated young man who enjoys the company of others. I love to have fun and believe that one should always find ways and means to enjoy their lives.

I am a true believer also in the acquisition of knowledge. Education is the single most important tool that can be used to elevate an individual and a society at large to maximize on it's full potential. With this in mind i decided that i would join the teaching fraternity, to share the knowledge i have garnered over the year and to impact positively the minds of the young who will become future leaders in our society.

I also believe in togetherness and equality. I treat everyone with respect, as it doesn't matter their background or current situation. It is my opinion that should everyone live in togetherness, words would not be able to describe the society we could have.

Finally, i live by this phrase 'live, love, laugh and enjoy life".
